Mood Boosters

Having a bad day? No energy to get up a do whatever needs to be done? Can’t find the motivation to walk around the block, let alone do a workout? Here are some ideas to rejuvenate the spirit and re-fill your tank with energy.

Slow down and breathe. You’ve heard it from me before: take time for several long, deep breaths. Aim to have the exhalation last twice as long as the inhalation. Feel you belly rise a bit as the lungs fill completely, pushing the diaphragm down. Spend 5 minutes this way, and you’ll be refreshed and ready to face whatever is coming.
Sip something cool. Cold drinks are a great pick-me-up, and staying hydrated keeps the energy level up. (Good hydration leads to better looking skin too!)
Have a piece of dark chocolate. Keep it small, savor each morsel, and see what it does for your mood!
Put on your favorite music. If possible, make it loud and sing along (for me, this is best done alone in the privacy of my car).
Think of a wonderful memory. May it was your first kiss, or when your child was born, a smile from that special someone. We all have treasured memories, and they can be used whenever we need a boost to remind ourselves that some days are better than others, and there is a lot of joy in life.
→ If all else fails, Fake it till you make it. Yes, this does work. Acting like you are feeling upbeat and have energy actually tricks your brain into really feeling that way!

Try any of these, or several, and I know that your mood and energy level will be moving up!
